Buses vandalised in Gurgaon over student’s death

Infuriated over the death of a 18-year-old student of Class XII in an accident with a city bus belonging to Haryana Roadways, over hundreds of students of Dronacharya Government College, on Friday afternoon went on rampage for more than three hours. The students torched three buses and vandalized several other buses of Haryana Roadways.

The students protested against the district administration on the busy new Railway Road. The incident had occurred at around 12.15 pm when the victim identified as Pappu Mandal, a resident of Suratnagar, was returning home after attending his English coaching classes in the area.

Mandal was reportedly trying to board a moving through the front door and the driver suddenly began closing it as a result of which the boy fell down and came under the bus.

After the accident, the driver of the bus did not stop the bus and tried to escape from the spot, police said. ‘Some passengers inside the bus and locals, however, forced the driver to stop the bus but the driver and helper later managed to flee leaving the bus parked in the middle of the road,’ said Dhananjay, a local resident of the area.
