Bus rams into car, 3 of family killed

Three persons including a woman were killed while three others received critical injuries after a speeding deluxe tourist bus of Punjab Roadways hit their Maruti Swift DZire car on early Sunday morning in the Karol Bagh area.

The incident took place at around 5.30 am when six members of a family were going to New Delhi railway station in their car to board a train to Ajmer. When they reached Bhram Kumari Chowk at New Rohtak Road, a speeding Punjab Roadways bus rammed into their car.

All the six occupants of the car were rescued and taken out of the car and were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital. The police was also informed. Out of the six victims, three persons including a woman were brought dead while the remaining three are undergoing treatment.

The deceased persons have been identified as Hukum Jain (80), Rakesh Jain (55) and his wife Vijaya Jain (52). The conditions of the injured persons—Virendra Jain, Paras Jain and Mukesh are said to be critical. They all belong to the same family and were going to Ajmer for a marriage proposal for their daughter.

According to police, the driver has been arrested and the bus taken into the custody. The initial probe suggests that the accident took place as the driver was driving the bus at a very high speed which resulted in the accident. 

At the time of the incident, no passengers were sitting in the bus. A case of negligent driving causing deaths has been registered against him.
