Burn victim dies; family blames in-laws, protests

Family of a burn victim, who succumbed to her injuries on Friday, protested outside the police station at Prashant Vihar in outer Delhi for severe negligence by the police.
According to sources, the victim — Savita Agarwal (30) — was admitted in a hospital with 50 percent burn injuries on Tuesday.
Following the incident the police reportedly did not record the victim’s statement officially till the time she finally died.
Family members of the victim are accusing the in-laws of the victim for murder, said sources.
The woman had reportedly complained to the police earlier about her in-laws accusing them of
issuing life-threats on a regular basis.
Had the police taken action then, she could have been saved, said a family member.
