A Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) has been launched by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) for transfer of best practices in industries covered under the Perform Achieve and Trade
(PAT) scheme. PAT is a flagship initiative of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, which is a mechanism
for promoting energy efficiency in large industries.
The PAT scheme covers 478 Industrial units across the eight most energy intensive industry sectors in India, where each unit has been assigned a specific energy consumption reduction target. This platform has been launched by BEE in partnership with Institute for Industrial Productivity (IIP).
The British High Commission in India is supporting IIP in this initiative. The platform will help industry meet its energy efficiency targets by facilitating peer to peer learning and exchange of best practices within and across the targeted industry sectors of the Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme. It will also support the industry by enabling knowledge provision on innovative approaches on energy management and international best practices. An Action Plan detailing the roadmap for the Knowledge Exchange Platform and the inaugural issue of the Quarterly Newsletter were released by Union Power Secretary P K Sinha.
Special Secretary (Power) R N Choubey too was present at the event. BEE Director-General Dr Ajay Mathur presided over the workshop after the inaugural event where case studies were presented by industry representatives, who shared their experience as well as approach and benefits of implementing energy efficiency projects in their units. A poster exhibition was also organised showcasing the success stories.
The workshop had participation from over 350 distinguished speakers, industry leaders and experts spanning industry, government agencies, research institutions and senior Industry professionals.
