Bunty not so lucky with Dibakar Bannerjee

A betrayal by the famous film director Dibakar Bannerjee, who has made many controversial movies, like Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye [2008], Love Sex aur Dhokha [2010], Shanghai [2012] and Khosla ka Ghosla [2006] is provoking the maverick conman Devinder Singh, aka Bunty, to seek revenge.

In an exclusive interview with Millennium Post, Bunty broke out while recalling the drastic changes that came in his life after the release of Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye. Bunty claims that he was offered a deal of Rs 2 crore by Bannerjee to narrate his life story so that the film-maker could make a movie out of it.

In a chocked voice, Bunty said, 'Six years after the deal was struck, he has not given a single paisa to me.' Bunty is particularly distrubed at the way his family is portrayed in the film. He said, 'Bannerjee has spoiled my life, as he has depicted some untrue instances of illicit relationships in my family in the film. Due to which, my family and my girlfriend have disowned me.'

He added that on 6 September he sent a legal notice to Bannerjee to recover the amount. In response, Bannerjee has asked for 21 days' time to revert, but he has not got back to Bunty yet. Millennium Post has also accessed the legal documents exchanged between them. 'His arrogant behaviour is testing my patience. He is provoking me to take some criminal action against him,' Bunty said in desperation.

Since 1993, Bunty has been wanted in several cases of thefts. He is alleged to have been involved in more than 500 burglaries. Allegedly, he has stolen things from 300 houses and 100 showrooms in Delhi. He got notoriety for successfully pulling off daring robberies and the art to fool the cops when he was under their custody. Bunty is alleged to have carried out robberies in almost every state of the country. Recently his name came up in a car-jacking incident in New Friends Colony in south-east Delhi.

But, now Bunty wants to change. He said, 'I want to remove the “chor” tag associated with my name. I love to be known as Bunty jasoos or Big Boss Bunty.' [He has participated in the popular TV show Big Boss.]

Bannerjee remained unavailable for comment on Bunty's charges.
