Bungalows built with Rs 14 cr wait for ministers

In 2013, Delhi government’s Public Works Department (PWD) had built four bugalows at 8, Raj Niwas Marg, the other two have been built at 2, Ataur Rehman Lane — just few hundred yards away from the Lieutenant-Governor’s office.

‘No minister has applied for the accommodation, yet no minister has applied for the accommodation,’ PWD officials said.

The new bugalows have been equipped with the latest facilities such as modular kitchen and split air-conditioners in each room, separates rooms for servants and a huge lawn with a jogging track.
The Type 8 bungalows have five bedrooms each with separate drawing, dinning and guest rooms.

There are separate rooms for ministers’ offices and staff. Each bungalows was built on an approximate area of about 930 square metres and their total construction cost is estimated to be about Rs 14 crore.

A couple of days ago, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was allotted two five-bedroom duplex flats on Bhagwan Das Road,  one of which is to be used as his office.

The new ministers, however, do not seem to be in a mood to shift to the bungalows given the fact that Manish Sisodia shifted to a two-bedroom government flat on Wednesday and no minister has made a claim to these bungalows thus far.

On the other hand, former Congress ministers are still occupying government bungalows in some parts of Delhi.

Former minister Arvinder Singh Lovely is living at 9 Shamnath Marg, former Power and Industry minister is residing at Rouse Avenue, on Deen Dyal Upadhaya Marg.

Another former minister Ramakant Goswami is living at Satya sadan near Chanakyapuri.
PWD has confirmed that no minister has so far asked for these flats.
