Bulandshahr gang rape: Home Min seeks report from UP government

Keeping a view on the current law and order situation of Uttar Pradesh, the Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a report from the state government in Bulandshahr gang rape case, in which a Noida-based woman and her teenage daughter had been brutally gang raped by miscreants at Bulandshahr bypass on Delhi-Kanpur National Highway on Friday night. The incident took place barely 100 meters from a police post.

Even, with the onset of another week in Monsoon Session, BJP initiated a discussion over the Bulandshahr gangrape case on Monday in Lok Sabha during the zero hour. Bhola Singh, who is the BJP MP from Bulandshahar asked for CM Akhilesh Yadav's resignation. Singh claimed that, “The law and order situation has been ruined by this government. No proper investigation has been done so far."

The Bharatiya Janata Party top leadership of the state also asked all opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh for a collective campaign against these heinous crimes and the state’s current law and order situation.

Demanding a "personal explanation" from Akhilesh Yadav, Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati said: "If you can't manage UP, then resign as chief minister on moral grounds."

"Iss ghatna se saaf zahir ho gaya ki UP mein kanoon ka raj nahi,jungle-raj chal raha hai. Agar UP sambhaala nahin ja raha hai, toh behtar hoga ki CM ke pad se naitikta ke aadhar pe isteefa dedena chahiye.Ye meri salah hai," says Mayawati.

However, amid shock and condemnation, the Akhilesh Yadav government suspended the top rung of the local police and seven officers. Eariler, on Sunday SSP, ASP, circle officer and three police officials were suspended. Three accused have also been arrested sent to 14 days of judicial custody on Monday.

SSP Bulandshahr Vaibhav Krishna said that 15 Special Task Force teams have been pressed into action and were carrying out searches in Bulandshahr, Meerut and other districts to nab the accused.
