‘Budget 2013 focuses on womanhood’

The Annual Budget 2013 has focussed on womanhood this time. With the inception of Women's Bank and the setting up of the Nirbhaya fund - with a corpus of Rs 1,000 crore - the Budget has made an effort to ensure that women belonging to the most vulnerable groups, including single women and widows, are able to live with self-esteem and dignity.

It is a good point too that the ministry of Women and Child Development has been asked to design schemes to address these concerns and Rs 200 crore has been provided to begin work in this regard.

The eateries every where have become costlier, which will eventually lead to the rise in the prices of vegetables and fruits. With limited money we need to search for the very best resources to run our household and raise our family.

The drop in the prices of handlooms, textiles and leather have come as a good news. I own a clothes boutique and it will now be easier for me to buy quality cloth at cheaper rates for designing. The best part of the budget is that women can carry jewellery up to Rs 1 lakh without paying tax, and can purchase jewellery from anywhere. Frugal living is the focus and that is why I am always looking for ways to run my household well and with the least possible cost.
