BSP marches with 2014 in sight, attacks UPA and NDA

Setting the stage for 2014 general elections, Bahujan Samaj Party chief, Mayawati, on Tuesday attacked both United Progressive Alliance and National Democratic Alliance and said that the people are not only fed up with the present government but also Bharatiya Janata Party which has failed to play the role of an opposition.

The BSP leader said that the lack of discipline and  no unity withi the BJP has given a life line to the government. ‘Their lack of discipline and direction has given new lease of life to the UPA government,’ said Mayawati.

The BSP leader futher said that  since the UPA and the NDA have failed to live up to the expectations of the people, people were now looking for an alternative which her party can provide in the next Lok Sabha elections.

She, however, added that a final decision will have to be taken by the electorate while casting their vote in the next general election and polls can throw up surprising results which no one expects.

Mayawati, also said that the failed  anti-poor policies of the government and corruption has angered the people of the country. ‘Land acquisition, Lokpal have all been stuck and this has led to a loss for the people of the country,’ said Maywati.

Asked why was the BSP supporting the UPA government from outside despite its ‘anti-people’ policies, Mayawati said she had already explained the reasons on an earlier occasion.

‘The decision to support the government is taken after due deliberations,’ said  BSP chief. Mayawati however, evaded questions on the her party’s stand  if the bill on reservation in promotion in government jobs fails to get Parliament’s nod during the Budget session. ‘Let the Budget session commence,’ said Mayawati. In her bid to appease other caste and comminutes, the BSP chief said that she will support if there is a bill on reservation in promotion for Minorites and Other Backward Classes.

On the issue of beheading of an Indian soldier and cries of war by political parties, BSP chief said that the government should restrain. ‘I can’t say that war is the only solution, there is still room to find a solution, if the Government of India is serious, a peaceful solution can be found,’ said Mayawati.
