BSNL, UP (W) Telecom Circle adopts PM’s Digital India initiative

<g data-gr-id="24">State run</g> telecom giant BSNL has welcomed the Digital India initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, officials of the UP (West) said on Sunday. It will further step up digitalization process across its units as per the new <g data-gr-id="25">iniative</g>.
With a view to empower the people of the country through the Digital India programme, Digital India week was launched by Modi on July 1, 2015. The state-run giant is publicizing in all its units from July 1-7 about its programmes and efforts in carrying out the mechanization process.
BSNL had launched "free All India Roaming" facility for mobile customers from 15.06.2015 and "Free night calling" for landline customers from 1st of this month. for general public and publicizing these through Mela in all SSAs of BSNL UP (W) Telecom Circle. All SSAs of BSNL UP (W) Telecom Circle are also educating the people to pay utility bills like mobile recharge, electricity, gas through online payment by using credit / debit card and internet banking. BSNL fulfilled the most awaited need of mobile customers "One Nation One Number" by launching full mobile number portability (MNP) nationwide on Friday.
BSNL is one of the largest broadband service providers and our urban and rural exchanges are equipped with broadband facilities covering 100 per cent and 90 per cent, respectively. We are the first broadband operator to offer minimum 512 Kbps speed to both urban and rural customers. We are also offering <g data-gr-id="28">broadband</g> speed of up to 100 <g data-gr-id="27">mbps</g>. The officials said.
Under Digital India programme, <g data-gr-id="37"><g data-gr-id="36">high</g> speed</g> broadband facility is being provided to Gram Panchayats, for this under NOFN project laying of optical fiber cable work is going on in fast speed. In the first <g data-gr-id="35">phase</g> there are 8019 Gram Panchayat in 128 Blocks out of which 3800 Km PLB pipe has been laid in 1700 GPs and more than 700 GPs are ready for equipment installation.The official informed. Under Digital India programme, all present telephone exchanges will be converted into NGN exchanges in different phases.
