BSF man held for helping cross-border smuggling

Another Border Security Force (BSF) jawan has been arrested for allegedly helping druglords in cross-border smuggling of narcotics and arms, days after a jawan from the force was arrested from Rajasthan on similar charges, a senior police official said. 

The jawan, identified as Havildar Prem Singh, was arrested from his village Naushera Dhalla in Tarn Taran district on  Monday, said Mohali SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.

His alleged involvement came to light following the questioning of a drug smuggler, Gurjant Singh alias Bholu, who along with two of his aides was arrested on January 4 from Kharar. The SSP said Bholu said he had got the smuggled drugs and arms from Pakistan with the alleged help of Prem Singh, posted at Fazilka in 2014.
