A 45-year old BSF inspector, deputed for poll duty for the May 16 Assembly election in Kerala, was shot dead allegedly by a jawan near here, following an argument over leave, the police said on Friday.
A search was on for jawan Havildar Umesh Prasad Singh who fled after gunning down his senior Ram Gopal Meena late Thursday night, police said. Singh had sought leave, which was turned down by the Inspector, following which a quarrel broke out between the two. Suddenly, the jawan opened fire from his service rifle, fatally injuring the inspector.
