There is no fault on our part. The transmission lines of Delhi Transco are faulty and it often gets overheated forcing us to resort to unscheduled load shedding,’ said an official who refused to be quoted.
The Delhi Transco officials claimed that there was no major fault at their end and they have reduced the outages to two percent a day.
‘The peak power demand has been increased to 5439 Mega Watts. Out of required 110.89 units, 108.58 million units were met and only 1.27 million units were shed which is only two percent of the total demand,’ said a Delhi Power Department official.
The department admitted that outages are being reported in east Delhi; however, it failed to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the area.
‘Some reports of outages are still being received from East Delhi. However, load shedding, if required, was restricted to one hour and done on rotational basis strictly,’ the department said in a statement.
The discoms resorted to load shedding of two hours despite government’s ‘strict’ orders of one hour rotational outage.
