Brother stabs sister to death, tries to kill self

On Wednesday morning, the accused identified as Mahinder (27) stabbed his sister Jyoti (30) at their residence in sector 3 of RK Puram. Soon after killing her, Mahinder drank toilet cleaner to commit suicide and later cut his wrist.
At around 4 am, he made a call to the police control room and informed police that he has murdered his sister. A police team reached the spot and found Jyoti lying unconscious in a pool of blood while Mahinder was sitting next to her body.
A police official said, ‘Mahinder’s condition was not well so he was rushed to the nearby hospital where he underwent treatment. His condition was said to be stable.’ It was learnt that their father, identified as Jagan Nath was a government employee who died in 2008. Both of them were unemployed and were surviving on their father’s pension. Recently their mother also died and they started living at their parents’ place in RK Puram.
From past few days, Mahinder was suspicious that his father had made Jyoti the owner of the property and she will take possession of the flat after her marriage. Jyoti was also receiving her father’s pension. This had annoyed Mahinder and he decided to eliminate her. Mahinder has been booked for murder.
