Brother-sister duo thrashed by mob in Gzb

A brother-sister, living in Crossing City Sector in Ghaziabad, was brutally beaten up by a furious mob over a certain property dispute on Wednesday night. Police said the victims were attacked when they were on their way to Sector 23 by car. The attackers pulled them out, thrashed them up brutally before the local police could reach the spot. The victims were admitted to a private hospital from where they were discharged after a few hours of treatment.

The incident was reported at around 10 pm when one Prashant Singh, and his sister Sakshi, children of retired engineer Omkar Singh, were on their way to Sector 23 from Crossing City in their car. The duo was going to see their flat in the area which has allegedly been occupied by Prashant’s wife after a rift between them earlier. On Wednesday evening, after hearing that their house had been vandalised, both were on their way to take stock of the situation but were intercepted by a group of nearly three dozen people near Sanjay Nagar flyover. The victims were forced to come out of their car, beaten up brutally by the attackers amid presence of scores of local people.

A personnel of Civil Defence, Anil Sirin, informed local police and a PCR reached the spot. The police used mild force to disperse the mob. The victims, who were admitted to a nearby hospital said police action was too little and too late.

Their family also claimed that police had failed to take penal action despite having prior information and even refused to register a complaint earlier. Meanwhile, the cops have claimed to investigate the incident.
