Brokers told to issue common contract note in all segments

Leading bourses NSE and BSE have asked stock brokers to introduce common contract notes across segments.

The different segments such as capital market (CM), currency derivatives(CD) and futures and options (F&O) would have a common contract note.

A contract note, is a record of transactions executed by a stock broker, having information like order number, time of a trade, quantity and kind of security purchased or sold and brokerage and taxation rates.

‘In consultation with Sebi (Securities and Exchange Board of India), other exchanges and member associations, it has been decided to have a common contract note across CM, F&O and CD segments and across all exchanges,’ the two exchanges said in similar-worded circulars.
