Broken pieces of 5-yr-old’s skeleton found, aunt held

Broken pieces of a skeleton of a minor boy who was reportedly kidnapped almost five years ago has been found inside a gutter near his aunt’s residence in east Delhi’s Mandawali area on Thursday. The boy’s aunt, who is now being questioned by the police, is known to be a believer in black magic.

A labourer, who was cleaning up the gutter as part of the repairing work going on in the house, came up to the owner and said that two bones of a human body and a pair of white school shoes have been discovered. The police was called in and with a special team; the ground was dug up in search of more bones.

More pieces of the skeleton were discovered eventually and have been sent for examination. Meanwhile, records of missing children in the area were scanned and it was learnt that a five-year-old boy had gone missing five years ago. The house from where the skeleton was found is the same that belongs to the missing boy’s aunt. ‘The recovered bones have been sent to FSL for determination of DNA with father and mother of kidnapped child,’ a senior police official said.

In September 2009, the five-year old boy, identified as Himanshu, went missing when his parents had gone to see Ram Lila on 26 September.

The family suspected the involvement of the child’s aunt as she was known to practice practicing black magic. It was believed that she must have killed the boy to offer his blood to the deity, which is a very common ritual. After killing him, the body was suspected to be chopped off by the accused.

‘The suspect has been summoned by the police and is being  quizzed by the police,’ the official said.
