British cops foil beheading plot

Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) arrested four men late on Tuesday evening on suspicion of being concerned in the ‘Commission, Preparation or Instigation of acts of Terrorism’.

The men - two of whom are 20 years old and the other two being 21 years of age were arrested after warrants were executed at addresses across London. One of the men had to be tasered during his arrest.

The Scotland Yard said ‘These arrests and searches are part of an ongoing investigation into Islamist related terrorism. They have all been taken to police stations in central London and remain in custody.

SO15 officers were assisted in the execution of warrants at one of the addresses by officers from the Specialist Firearms Command. No shots were fired. A number of residential addresses and vehicles are being searched by specialist officers in west and central London as part of the investigation’.

Interestingly, it emerged on Wednesday that Tarik Hassane belonging to a family of Moroccan origin is a medical student who was offered a place at London’s most prestigious King’s College.MI5 sources have said there is a serious possibility of jihadists returning from Syria to carry out beheadings on British streets.The men are believed to have been in the ‘early stages’ of planning a ‘significant’ attack.
