Brave woman nabs snatchers, honoured

A 45-year-old housewife was rewarded with Rs 10,000 and Commendation Roll for bravely in Delhi on Wednesday. She received the honour for nabbing three bike-borne snatchers in Bhajanpura, north-east Delhi. Bindra Rathi, a resident of Yamuna Vihar, was awarded  by Delhi Police commissioner Neeraj Kumar, who also visited Civil Lines police station to discuss various aspects of policing with officers of the north district.’

On 23 September, Bindra went to a dairy around 7.30 am to buy milk. While she was buying some vegetables, a man came beside her and started bargaining on the prices of onion.

‘All of a sudden, he snatched my left gold earring and ran towards a bike, where two people were already there. I started shouting for help and ran towards him, on which a passerby caught hold of all three snatchers,’ she said.

A case was registered at Bhajanpura under various sections and later they were arrested. They were identified as Munna, Aamir and Amin, residents of Delhi. A police team that reached the spot also took Bindra to a nearby hospital, as her ear was injured.
