Brave traffic officials pull people out of burning cars

A Delhi Traffic Police officials saved a person by pulling him out of a burning car, police said on Friday. The incident was reported on Wednesday at 1.30 pm.
‘An Indigo car moving on Anuvrat Marg, coming from Andheria More side and going towards Lado Sarai suddenly caught fire’, said an eyewitness.
Immediately, Traffic officials Jaswant and Bajrang of Mehrauli traffic circle, who were on duty at the signal at M B Road, Anuvrat Marg T- point, pulled the driver, Surender Kumar, out of the car, who was in a shock.
Constable Bajrang immediately regulated the traffic by diverting other vehicles.
‘The traffic officials extinguished the fire with materials available with them, such as wet mud and water, from nearby water carts. They also used fire extinguishers installed in the buses, which happened to be in the vicinity at the time of incident,’ said a Traffic official.
The traffic was managed in a way that there was no congestion in the vicinity.
Driver of the car, Surender Kumar, 32, is a resident of Durga Vihar near Sainik Farms and works for his employer who lives in Faridabad.
‘Surender was on his way from Gurgaon to Faridabad when the car caught fire,’ said an official. Constables Jaswant, 28, and Bajrang, 25, joined Delhi Police in 2008 and have been with Traffic Police since 2009.
In a similar incident, Traffic officials Laxmi Narain and Ashok Rai did commendable work by saving two employees of a company trapped in a burning car.
On Tuesday, at 7 pm, the traffic officials noted smoke coming from a Hyundai Accent vehicle.
‘Laxmi Narain helped in opening of the door of the vehicle, to let the two trapped employees come out while traffic official Ashok Rai stopped the traffic at the intersection and called Fire brigade and PCR,’ informed an Traffic official.
