BPO employee gang rape, 2 accused arrested

Two men were arrested on Tuesday for <g data-gr-id="21">alleged</g> gang rape of a 22-year-old call centre employee in the city at knife-point in their moving van after they offered to ferry her home. Police said the accused were nabbed after the victim gave random digits of the vehicle’s <g data-gr-id="16">numberplate</g>.
The woman was waiting to hail a bus to return to her PG home and boarded the van, which stopped by offering her a drop, city police commissioner NS <g data-gr-id="19">Megharikh</g> said. “She was waiting for the BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) bus along with her friend to return to her PG home and boarded the van which stopped by and offered a drop. Her friend, however, insisted not to board the vehicle, but she (the victim) did not heed her appeal,” he said.
The woman, who hails from Gwalior in MP, was allegedly gangraped on the night of October 3 by the vehicle driver and the cleaner, <g data-gr-id="23">Megharikh</g> said, adding she was taken to a deserted spot before she was dropped in Madiwala area.
Police said for nearly three hours, the two men drove around deserted places in Madivala and raped her. The men allegedly dumped the woman near a temple, police said.
