The Noida Authority on Tuesday reduced the rate of one-room set houses that are to be allotted to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families by 50% at Sector 73 A, Noida.
Apparently, the Authority had raised the rate of 1200 such one-room sets from 2.5 lakh to 5 lakh. This decision had infuriated the allotees who on Tuesday staged demonstration in front of the Authority office and threatened an indefinite strike until the decision was taken back. The Authority took the matter seriously and finally decided to roll back the prices and reduced it to 50% of 2.5 lakh. According to sources, the Noida Authority will bear the burden of the rest 50%. The move has brought smiles to the faces of the 1200 allotees who are yet to get the possession of their houses while the scheme was launched in 2007.
