BPL expects Flipkart network to push its turnover up by Rs 50 cr

Riding on its collaboration with e-commerce portal Flipkart, consumer electronics maker BPL is looking at a sales turnover of Rs 50 crore from its online business segment this fiscal and hoping to get it doubled by the next year. BPL had entered into <g data-gr-id="17">agreement</g> with Flipkart in July this year to sell its consumer durables and appliances. <g data-gr-id="16">Initially</g> it was selling LED panels, washing machine and refrigerators with a new brand positioning “Experience it”. “During the current financial year, your company expects to achieve a turnover of about Rs 50 crore from Flipkart association... hopes to double the turnover in the coming year,” BPL Chairman and Managing Director Ajit G Nambiar said. “The product range would gradually expand to include other home appliances products like <g data-gr-id="14">airconditioners</g>, microwave ovens and LED/solar lamps,” Nambiar added. BPL, which was the market leader in the consumer durable segment in the 90s, said its products have received an overwhelming response from consumers, he said. BPL reported a total income of Rs 30.55 crore in FY 2014-15.
