Delhi Police rescued a four-year-old boy who was kidnapped in July last year from the clutches of a human trafficking gang. Police have arrested the woman, Nazra (45) who kidnapped the boy with the help of a relative and sold him to a man named Mohd Sohail (30) for Rs 30,000. Police handed the child over to his parents. One of the accused persons, identified as Fukran, is still absconding.
On July 31, Chandu Ram had filed a complaint with the police that he and his wife along with their two children had come from Uttarakhand and were living temporarily at Rain Basera in Chandni Chowk. At around 12 pm his child, Deepak went missing from the pavement. Police scanned through the CCTV footage of the area and found that a woman, along with a man were involved in the kidnapping.
According to the police, after analysing the CCTV cameras, local intelligence was used to trace the location of the suspects. After the location of the child was confirmed to either Meerut or Hasanpur in Uttar Pradesh, a team of local police was dispatched and finally on January 6, the policemen traced the boy to Moradabad. A raid was conducted in Moradabad and the woman, Nazra, and Mohd Suhail were apprehended while the child was rescued.
During interrogation, they revealed that Nazra, with Fukran’s help, had kidnapped the child and sold him to Suhail for Rs 30,000 who further intended to sell him to someone else. A case of kidnapping was registered at the Kotwali police station against the suspects under relevant sections of the IPC.
