A 17-year-old boy was killed after his 19-year-old friend hit him with a bat while playing cricket. The incident took place at a park in South-West Delhi’s Sagarpur. The accused has been arrested after the incident. According to the police, on Friday, Shivam (17) along with his three friends including Aakash (19) were playing cricket in Buddha Park. During the incident, Shivam was batting and had scored pretty well. When Aakash, who is a resident of Dabri came to bowl, Shivam scored more
runs. The last ball accidentally hit Aakash’s head.
The police learnt that after Aakash received a minor injury to his head, he had a heated argument with Shivam that later turned violent. Aakash accused Shivam of injuring him intentionally. A few minutes later, Aakash snatched the bat from Shivam and hit him on his head.
After Aakash hit him, Shivam fell unconscious and started bleeding. All three of his friends took him to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital where Shivam was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, the hospital staff informed the police and after a team arrived, Aakash was apprehended based on the statements of his other friends. After Aakash was apprehended, he confessed and has been booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Shivam was living with his parents in Sagarpur area for the past few years and they are originally from Jhansi. He was studying at a government school in the area. His father is a labourer while his mother works as domestic maid.
