Boy dies as balcony collapses, sister hurt

Tragedy struck a family in Saraswati Vihar area of north-west Delhi as it lost their son after the wall of a first-floor balcony under which he was playing collapsed and fell over him on Friday morning.
His sister who was playing along with him got critically injured in the incident. The building was reportedly around 37 years old.
The incident was reported at around 10.45 am on Friday morning from Saraswati Vihar. The deceased has been identified as 12-year-old Suraj. The critically injured girl Kajal is around 13 year old.
‘We have registered a case under Section 304-A (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code and are further investigating the case,’ a police officer said. According to the police official who is investigating the case, a call regarding the incident was received at around 11.20 am.
Both victims are children of a lady named Ranu Devi. Ranu works as a maid in the house whose
wall collapsed.
The children were rushed to Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar hospital where Suraj was declared brought dead and the girl is undergoing treatment. ‘Both the legs of the girl have been fractured and she is undergoing treatment. She is critical but we are trying our best to save the child,’ a doctor posted at the hospital said.
The children who are generally at school in morning hours had accompanied their mother to work because of a holiday in their school owing to the festival of Id.
