Bomb hoax at South Delhi school

A hoax call about a bomb in a bag at Modern School in South Delhi’s Vasant Vihar created a panic among the students, teachers and other school authorities on Thursday afternoon.
The call was made at around 12.50 pm when the students were giving their board exams.
The school was immediately evacuated and a thorough search of the building was carried out after which it was declared a hoax call.
According to Delhi Fire Services officials, the call was received by the school authority at 1.15 pm following which teams were sent to the school and students and teachers were evacuated.
Bomb disposal squads inspected the premises thoroughly. At around 2.50 pm, Delhi Police declared it a hoax call and the police are trying to trace the caller.
During investigation, it was learnt that the call was received on one of the landlines, following which the school authorities informed the police.
Soon, the school was locked down and students evacuated through one of the gates. “A bomb call was received regarding Modern School Vasant Vihar. Assistant Commissioner of Police and the SHO of Vasant Vihar immediately reached the school. All evacuated with help of teachers and students. Anti-sabotage check being undertaken to trace device if any. So far situation is normal (sic),” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) Prem Nath tweeted at around 2.30 pm.
