The body of a five-year-old boy, who had been missing for the past three days, was recovered from a pit early on Sunday. The body of the boy, who has been identified as Rohan, was recovered at approximately 3 am from Kushak village in north Delhi's Swaroop Nagar area.
The accused, Chanchal, was also caught from the village, by the neighbours and police officials.
According to the family of the victim, on the night of 8 March, 5-year-old Rohan, went out to play after his dinner, and did not return home. His father, who is a technician at a private company, filed a police complaint. A thorough search was made for the boy, but he was not found.
According to witnesses, the boy was last seen with another boy from the neighbourhood, Chanchal.
'On Sunday, one of the villagers informed the police after he found the body in a semi-buried condition inside the pit,' said a police officer.
'The victim, a lower kindergarten student, had been missing since 8 March and a case had already been registered by his family members,' said a police official. 'Rohan's skull was fractured. Prima facie evidence points to a case of personal enmity, as the victim's family did not get any ransom call. The body has been sent for post-mortem,' the officer said.
According to the police, during investigation, the victim's father, Chandrabhan, who hails from Uttar Pradesh and works as a driver here, told police that he had some personal enmity with the accused.
'A case of murder has been registered and the victim's relatives and neighbours are being questioned in the case. We are probing into the matter, and further investigation is in process,' added the officer.
