Body of British national found stuffed in plastic bag at SE Delhi

A decomposed body of a 40-year-old British national has been found stuffed inside a blue plastic bag at south-east Delhi’s Bhogal area on Sunday morning.

A shopkeeper at Church Road in Bhogal called the police control room with information that an unclaimed plastic bag was lying outside his shop since morning. Before he called the police, the shopkeeper smelt something foul and tried to open the bag. He was shocked to notice that a body had been stuffed inside.

When a team reached the crime scene, they took out the body, which was found decomposed. ‘Head injuries have been spotted with blood clots already formed. Also, injuries on his face have also been noticed. This clue might point towards an attempt made by the accused to smash the victim’s face, in order to hide his identity,’ the official said. Preliminary investigations suggest that it a case of murder and it could have taken place 3-4 days ago.

Police officials found a passport in his pocket that established his identity as Rodick Andrew Reymond, a British national. The embassy has been contacted to gather more information about the deceased. His body was sent to AIIMS, where a post-mortem examination was conducted. Results from the report are still awaited.

Locals have been questioned for the investigation. Police wanted to know whether people had seen someone dumping the bag. ‘A case of murder has been registered against an unknown person at Nizamuddin police station and investigation is on to identify and nab the accused,’ an investigating official said.
