Board of Air India approved dry leasing of 19 new aircraft: Govt

Ministry of Civil Aviation on Tuesday giving information on the issue of Replacement of Old Aircrafts, said, “The Board of Air India has approved dry leasing of 19 A320 aircraft to replace the old/leased aircraft. In line with the approval by the Board, Air India has entered into an agreement for <g data-gr-id="22">lease</g> of 5 A320 aircraft, of which two aircraft have already been delivered. AI has also floated a tender for leasing of 14 A320 neo aircraft. The financial bids have been obtained and <g data-gr-id="20">bidder</g> has been selected.” This information was given by Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Dr Mahesh Sharma in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Speaking on the issue of advisory on cancellation charges on domestic tickets, the minister said, “The cancellation charges range from 1055 rupees to 2750 rupees depending upon class of tickets, fare level and time before departure. Under the provisions of existing regulations, airlines are free to establish reasonable charges/fees for the services being offered by them, which include charges for <g data-gr-id="16">cancellation</g> of <g data-gr-id="15">pre booked</g> tickets. DGCAhas issued Air Transport Circular (ATC) 02 of 2015 on unbundling of services and fees by scheduled airlines.”
