The Bangladesh Police on Monday pressed charges against ex-Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 33 others in a violence case.
A local police sub-inspector submitted the charge sheet in the case which was filed with a police station in Dhaka for allegedly vandalizing and torching a vehicle on January 6 last year during the BNP’s anti-government movement.
A BNP spokesman who did not want to be named termed the cases filed against the party's leaders as “politically motivated” and said they would fight those legally.
