Black money used for Modi rallies, alleges Kapil Sibal

‘Rs 10 to 15 crore is spent on stadiums. It should be investigated as to what kind of money is used to fund (the rallies). He (Modi) has made speeches from podiums with cameras around showing beautiful stadiums,’ said law minister Kapil Sibal on Friday, while launching his personal website.

‘If you really want to bring back black money – and that should be the case as Advani ji always says – then the Rs 10 to 15 crore is spent on stadiums. There should be a debate. It should be investigated as to what kind of money is used to fund (the rallies),’ he said.
Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley blasted Congress leaders for mounting a personal attack on Modi, and said the nation is witnessing a very interesting political debate ahead of the 2014 polls. ‘Such interruptions and side comments are not desirable,’ said Jaitley.

‘The kind of attendance at Modi’s rallies is among the largest I have seen in the last few decades. The Congress has been rattled. They don’t know how to deal with the possible outcome of the 2014 general elections. Therefore, second-rank leaders of the Congress have jumped in to mount a personalised attack on Modi,’ he said.

Accusing Modi of engaging in ‘politics of lies’, Sibal earlier challenged him to a debate as he stated that political discourse should move from individuals to issues affecting the country.
