BJP’s Bharat Bandh may affect traffic in Delhi

The traffic is likely to be adversely affected and office goers may get stuck in jams on Thursday, as Delhi BJP has planned to hold protests at 100 major intersections and places in Delhi on the call of ‘Bharat Bandh’ by NDA.

In Delhi, the agitators will demand roll back of recent hike in electricity bills along with nation-wide demands such as roll back of increase in diesel price, decreasing subsidy on LPG cylinders and introducing FDI in retail sector. The protest will start at 10 am and is likely to continue till afternoon.

‘This bandh will be a referendum of people against the Congress government in Delhi and also in the centre. The central government has come in minority in Lok Sabha and people will show that it has lost their confidence,’ said Vijender Gupta, Delhi BJP president. The main places of protest include Arya Samaj Chowk, Azmal Khan Road, Filmistan, Dr Mujje Chowk, Paharganj PS, Sarojikni Nagar Market, Khan Market, Bengali Market, Connaught Place, Arobindo Marg, Green Park, Jahangirpuri, Madhuban Chowk, Bawana Chowk, Narela Ramdev Chowk, Begumpur Main Road, Moti Nagar Chowk, Jakhira Mandi, Patel Nagar PS, West Patel Nagar Chowk, Narayana PVR Chowk, Inderpuri, Gopinath Bazar, Hanuman Mandir Chowk, Shahdara, GTB Enclave Chowk, Gokulpur Chowk, Brijpuri Chowk, Shiv Vihar Chowk.

The BJP workers will burn the effigies of Prime Minister and Congress leaders.

BJP National President Nitin Gadkari, Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Pradesh President Vijender Gupta and Vijay Kumar Malhotra will be a part of the protest demonstration at Chandni Chowk. From here these people will march towards the Prime Minister’ residence.
