Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on Sunday staged a sit-in demonstration outside a police station here, protesting against the “deteriorating” law and order situation in UP, where Assembly polls are scheduled in 2017.
In his address to party workers outside the Indirapuram police station, Neeraj Singh, son of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, alleged that the law and order situation “has gone from bad to worse and nepotism and casteism have reached their peak”.
Officials belonging to a particular caste have been posted in all important police stations and were extorting money by all means, he added.
Singh said the recent incident of Mathura and alleged migration of Hindus from Kairana, showed the “failure” of the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government in UP. “The Governor must sack the government and President’s rule should be imposed in UP,” he said, adding protests would be organised across the state. A memorandum was also sent by BJP city president Ajay Sharma to Governor Ram Naik seeking dismissal of the state government.
