BJP will identify, extradite Bangladeshis, says Rajnath

BJP’s national president Rajnath Singh on Friday emphasised that if voted to power BJP government will surely perform ‘identification’ of Bangladeshi migrants in the national capital city.

He, however, praised the contribution of internal migrants and even went on to say that if the migrant population had  not provided various types
of services, Delhi would have come to a stop.

‘It’s the policy of our party and we will conduct an identification, process,’ Singh said when asked if he party will identify illegal Bangladeshi migrants in Delhi. ‘In the modern age, the problem of internal migrants is a worldwide phenomenon. Many countries have found scientific and humanitarian solution of this problem and accepted the migrants as an asset while Congress government considered them burden,’ he added.

The BJP leader blamed Congress governments at the centre and Delhi for the sufferings of internal migrants, who came here from every nook and corner of the country, and promised several welfare measures for them including — migrants commission, rehabilitation project for slums and a new authority on the pattern of Delhi Development Authority (DDA), for the development of unauthorised colonies.

‘Delhi is neither lovable nor livable,’ said Rajnath intensifying his attack on Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government. ‘It’s due to ditching habit of Congress, political class is facing a crisis of credibility. We promise to set up an internal monitoring committee at party level in our organisation to oversee that the poll promises are delivered in a time-bound manner,’ he added.

He added that Dikshit’s unfulfilled promise to regularise unauthorised colonies by distributing provision certificates in 2008 is public ditching of highest order.

He further added that most of the inhabitants in slums and unauthorised colonies are migrants who comprise most of the unorganised workers, domestic servants, labourers, hawkers, construction workers, persons doing the job of garbage disposal, auto drivers and rickshaw drivers, workers in the industries-factories and in the shops of Delhiites earn their livelihood by working 12 hours a day and contribute to the development of the city.

The BJP chief also promised to ensure equitable development of villages by providing them better roads, sewage and water facilities among others.
