With its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi being adversely compared to Delhi’s newly-anointed chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, the BJP has decided to adopt greater political aggression as part of its strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. This became evident on Friday with the line the party adopted vis-à-vis the Congress at its parliamentary board meeting. Party general secretary Ananth Kumar said the party is not considering the Congress as a competitor. ‘Our party will start its ‘Modi for PM’ campaign from 12 January onwards,’ Kumar said after the BJP parliamentary board meeting on Friday at the party headquarters. The agenda for the national executive and council meeting, which is scheduled from 17 to 19 January was also discussed in the board. The meeting would coincide with the Congress convention planned for 17 January.
‘The national executive and council meeting will be the party’s biggest event ahead of the 2014 elections. More than 10,000 office-bearers from block and district level belonging to all parts of the country will participate in it,’ Kumar told reporters after the meeting. Significantly, the two-day jamboree would be held at Ramlila Grounds, from where Arvind Kejriwal has been giving clarion calls for his several political moves.
‘Ramlila grounds has much older history than AAP rise. BJP in the past has always held its big political conventions at this ground,’ said Harsh Vardhan, president Delhi BJP.
