BJP to go alone in Pondy polls, releases first list

With the ruling AINRC continuing to maintain silence on its poll strategy, its alliance partner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Fridat decided to go it alone in the May 16 Assembly polls.

“BJP is fighting the coming polls alone,” said Mahesh Girri, the party’s in-charge in Puducherry, after releasing the first list of names of candidates for 16 of 30 constituencies here.

He added: “It appears that the AINRC is not in a decision-making mood. Hence, the BJP has now decided to go it alone in the polls. We cannot prolong our strategy.”

He said the names of the remining candidates for 14 seats would be released soon. Girri said he party`s election manifesto was being finalised and would be released soon.
