Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday attacked the Prime Minister for being silent on the issue of Indian soldiers being killed on the Line of Control (LoC).
‘What it regrettable is that it has been six days since the incident, the Prime Minister is one of the tallest leaders of the country in a democracy and there has been no statement from him,’ said Leader of opposition, Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley.
The BJP leader further criticised the government for lack of clarity in dealing with the situation, Jaitley also said that country has never been insulted in such a manner. ‘Which way will the relations with Pakistan go? Should the talks with Pakistan continue? What will be India’s response? There is no word from the government,’ said Jaitley.
The BJP leader also added that Pakistan had unleashed terror activities in India after losing a number of wars. ‘ Look at the guts of that country, India keeps extending a hand of friendship, refrains from use of harsh language and their soldiers come into our territory, kill two soldiers, take the severed head of one of the soldiers back with them. This country has never been insulted in such a manner,’ said Jaitley.
BJP has already demanded suspension of peace talks with Pakistan following the attack and has emphasised that government should only hold talks, when Pakistan commits that its soil will not be used to for terrorist activities Meanwhile, amidst reports of fresh firing, the Indian and Pakistani armies will have a flag meeting led by brigadiers on Monday in a bid to end clashes along the Jammu and Kashmir border, army sources said Sunday.
The meeting will be held at 1 pm at Chakan da Bagh on the Line of Control (LoC) in the state’s Poonch district.
India had been seeking a brigadier-level meeting to discuss escalating clashes on the LoC but Pakistan, which had called for a UN probe into the incidents, only on Sunday.
