BJP skips JPC meet again

Reiterating the demand that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the finance minster P Chidambaram be called before the Joint Parliamentary Committee [JPC] on 2G spectrum scam, the Bharatiya Janata Party [BJP] members on Thursday again skipped the JPC meet.

'The BJP's position as regards the JPC remains the same. We want to call the prime minister and the finance minister, because otherwise the three main people who have been involved in this matter will not be inquired into,' said the BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman. The members had stayed away from the last meeting also that was held on 11 October.

The JPC chairperson P C Chacko, however, made it clear that there was no question of calling the prime minister. 'If I was to call the prime minister and finance minister as witnesses, it would have happened by now,' he said.
