BJP serves Sena 12-hr ultimatum

A day after the BJP blinked on seat sharing with long-time ally Shiv Sena for next month’s Maharashtra polls, the party has set a deadline for the Sena.

However, the Sena has categorically stated that the final call on seat sharing will be taken by its chief Uddhav Thackeray. ‘We do not care about any deadline. Uddhav Thackeray will take the final call.
Maharashatra will back Uddhav Thackeray,’ said Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut.

In last 48 hours several meetings were held in presence of BJP president Amit Shah and Union Transport minister Nitin Gadkari but Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray made it very clear that his party is not going to compromise over the number of seats for assembly poll scheduled to be held in the state on 15  October.

The 25-year-old alliance between the BJP and the Shiv Sena turned volatile after Thackeray recently questioned the efficacy of ‘Modi wave’ in his interview with a television channel.

Sources say that BJP has told Shiv Sena that it wants to contest 135 seats (out of total 288 assembly seats) and also wants Sena to contest on 135 seats. BJP leaders have suggested that the remaining 18 seats should be given to the three other allies, which include RPI (A), Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghtana and Rashtriya Samaj Paksha.
