BJP seeks Sangh’s help to devise Bihar poll strategy

“With the BJP dependent on the support of the RSS cadres for a fruitful political harvest, the government ministers needed to communicate about their performance for further dissemination within the rank and file,” said sources close to Jhandewalan, the RSS address in the national Capital.

On the last day of the conclave, Prime Minister Narendra Modi drove to Madhyanchal Bhawan in Vasant Kunj to meet the Sangh brass and discuss his government’s performance and his expectation from his party’s ideological mentors. The PM’s move is a clear departure from the Atal Bihari Vajpayee era when there was a clear break in communication between the government and Sangh.

“The Prime Minister has learnt lessons from the failures of NDA-I government. When BJP seeks Sangh’s help for votes, where is the problem in keeping them in the loop on how well was the party’s manifesto being implemented,” added a source.

Several top ministers of Modi government have participated in the deliberations on key issues including internal security, <g data-gr-id="17">naxal</g> problem and situation in Jammu & Kashmir.

Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Manohar Parrikar, Venkaiah Naidu and Anant Kumar were among senior Union ministers who attended the deliberations where they spoke on measures taken by them in relation to the issues raised by the RSS and its affiliates.

On its part, Sangh on Friday said that the direction and dedication of the Modi government <g data-gr-id="23">was</g> good and it has renewed the world’s confidence in India. At the official briefing on the meet, RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale told reporters, “A broad range of internal security and development issues were at the centre of the ongoing deliberations between the Sangh Parivar and the government.” Hosabale said, “We are not an illegal organisation and have every right to question ministers.”
