With PM Narendra Modi’s slated to launch two universal social security schemes – Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna (PMJJBY) from Kolkata, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said they have no bonhomie with the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
BJP national secretary and in-charge of Bengal Sidharth Nath Singh said: “We are honoured that the PM has selected Kolkata to launch two universal social security schemes. Also, launched the same day will be Atal Pension Yojna, assuring a monthly pension of Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 above 60 years of age.”
He said, “A section of media and opposition are speculating that there is a new bonhomie between BJP and TMC. Unfortunately, their focus is not on the immense benefit that the socially-deprived crores of Indians will get, but in political masala. We would rather leave this wild speculation to their respective wisdom. For the BJP, it is important that we are serving the people of India to whom we are committed.”
Modi is likely to inaugurate a steel plant at Burnpur in West Bengal on May 10.
