BJP postpones Jail Bharo Andolan

New Delhi: Embarrassed by the Maoist attack on Congress leaders at Bastar on Saturday, the BJP has postponed its nationwide 'Jail Bharo Aandolan' which was to commence from 27 May. This was announced on twitter by party president Rajnath Singh. The BJP is in power in Chattisgarh. The BJP leader said that the national executive meet in Goa in the first week of June will decide future programmes and agitations. The agitation was supposed to target the central government on corruption and price rise.

The Maoist attack has put the BJP on the back-foot, with the state Congress leaders demanding president's rule in Chhattisgarh. Law Minister Kabil Sibal has alleged that the Congress leaders were not provided adequate security. 'The security personnel died saving the leaders. It shows there was security cover,' said BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad while rejecting allegations of the Congress.
