Interestingly, popular folk singer and North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari who is considered Delhi BJP’s face of Poorvanchal (Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar) is missing in Thursday’s list. Only three MPs of Delhi — South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri, West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma and New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi would address public gatherings on Thursday. “All the MPs are interested in campaigning in the city and their programmes would be sent as they are finalised,’ said Delhi BJP spokesperson.
The party has deployed three MPs of the SC category, two from UP and one from Bihar on Wednesday to lure Dalit voters in the city but the Dalit icon of Delhi BJP Dr Udit Raj is missing from the list. Raj was also not present in the Dalit rally on Wednesday.
According to sources in Delhi BJP, he had been assigned to organise his own rally at Ram Lila Ground on Monday. But the statistics of the MPs indicate the emphasis of the BJP. The MPs from Uttar Pradesh include controversial Minister of State Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti who has recently received criticism for her allegedly remarks. Besides her, Faizabad MP Lallu Singh, Agra MP Satish Gautam would also campaign for the party.
Three MPs from neighbouring Rajasthan, two from Gujarat, and one each from Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh will address public meetings. While all the MPs will hold single public meeting, Rajesh Pandey MP from Kushi Nagar would address two public meetings.
