BJP MP from Azamgarh put under house arrrest

BJP MP Ramakant Yadav from Azamgarh was placed under house arrest on Sunday and 50 of his supporters were arrested for trying to attend a mahapanchayat called by supporters of reservation policy of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Arvind Sen said here that the BJP MP insisted to participate in the mahapanchayat of pro-reservation supporters at Mehta park, following which he was placed under house arrest. Later the MP was shifted to undisclosed location due to law and order problem.
Following the detention of the MP, pro-reservation supporters raised slogans and held a protest, which led to detention of 50 people, the police official said. Meanwhile Apna Dal MLA Anupriya Patel was also detained near toll plaza in Faizabad when she was on her way to Azamgarh to attend the pro-reservation meeting.
