BJP hits out at Shinde, justifies stand on VK Singh, Kiran Bedi

It was learnt that an official letter was generated recently from Shinde’s office to all the chief ministers mentioning the ‘bizarre’ statement (careful before arresting minorities).

While reacting over the letter which drew criticism and creates controversy, Javadekar said, ‘The criminals should not be identified on the basis of religion. I don’t understand what is wrong with Shinde. Why should you identify religion of criminals? It’s a dangerous trend.’ He said, ‘All the arrests should be done on the basis of crime and not by probing their community or religion.’

Sources said, Shinde has written to all the chief ministers on detention procedures and asked them to form a panel to review cases of people jailed without trial.

He has also suggested to release the minority youths if they are illegally detained.

Earlier also his statement creates a political controversy after he asked all the state governments to ensure that Muslims are not arrested wrongly or with any ill intentions in terror related cases in October 2013. Then he claimed that the central government has been receiving various complains over alleged harassment to the innocent Muslim youth by law enforcement agencies.

Javadekar said, ‘We condemn this and he should come clear on what he exactly wants to mean with his statement to all the Chief Ministers.’ Meanwhile, another senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that he wants former Army chief Gen V K Singh and former IPS and a social activist Kiran Bedi should join the party. His statement has come after Bedi for the last two days has expressed that the country needs a Prime Minister like Narendra Modi for the development of the country and stability.

Swamy, through a social networking site, said, ‘We should invite Kiran Bedi and Gen Singh to join BJP.
