Shah, who kicked off his ‘Vikas Parv’ campaign from the national Capital, said the government would fulfill all promises made in run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls in the remaining three years of its tenure.
Shah talked at length about the initiatives launched by the government to create employment and boost the economy in the past two years. “ We have given a decisive government to the country. Such a decisive government, led by Modi ji, has been formed in the country after a long time. This is a government, which takes decisions and implements them for public welfare,” he said.
He also lashed out the Congress, alleging that “scams, scandals and policy paralysis” ruled the roost during 10 years of the UPA rule. “We have given the nation corruption-free governance after 10 long years of corrupt UPA regime,” he said.
The BJP chief cited the government’s decision to bring the NEET ordinance that allowed states to conduct their own medical entrance examinations, as an example of the government’s focus on quick disposal of people’s problems.
The BJP chief stressed that employment did not mean getting jobs, but empowering people. Hailing the success of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana’, Shah said, “Twenty lakh youths across India have being trained (under the scheme) in the past one year.”
Talking about the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, he described the Modi government as pro-farmer one. “The scheme has been implemented on a mission mode, under which 28.5 lakh hectres will be brought under irrigation. Under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP), work on 89 projects will be fast tracked.” Shah added, “Five lakh farm ponds and wells have been dug in rain-fed areas and 10 lakh compost pits will be dug for the production of organic manure, which will be taken up under the MGNREGA.”
Hailing the success of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, he said: “For the first time since Independence, zero balance accounts for the poor have been opened at such a scale. About 21.81 crore accounts have been opened in two years. Rs 37,616 crore was deposited as on May 11, 2016.”
“RuPay Cards have been issued to 17.78 crore accounts for the first time so far,” he said. Highlighting the success of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, he said: “About 18,500 villages will be electrified within 1,000 days. About 7,108 villages were electrified in 2015-16, which is 37 per cent higher than the past three years.”
Apart from the success of these schemes Shah said the government would take action to fast-track schemes that are yet to pick up pace. He said, “The PM holds a meeting to check the status of the schemes every 15 days. The government is conducting surveys to check the status of unsuccessful schemes and trying to fast-track them.”
