The Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded apology from UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi for home minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s comment that RSS and BJP were training Hindu extremists.
‘We demand Sonia Gandhi to apologise to the party and the nation. Otherwise they will face grave consequences. It’s a defaulter party and they have proved it again,’ said BJP spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
The party slammed Shinde, saying that Congress party should not divide the country by associating terrorism to Hinduism or Islam. Calling the comments ‘unfortunate’, BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain condemned Shinde’s jibe. He said that the comment was misleading and irresponsible.
While speaking in the AICC conference in Jaipur, Shinde leveled serious charges against RSS, saying that government had reports that RSS was running training camps for Hindu extremists.
‘After investigations we have seen that be it BJP or RSS, their training camps are promoting Hindu terrorism. Samjhauta blast, Mecca Masjid, Malegaon blast, they perpetrate it and then blame minorities,’ he said.
Meanwhile, strong political reactions have started to pour in. Parliamentary affairs minister for State, Rajiv Shukla seemed to be distancing the party with the comments. He said that terror had no religion, and that some fanatics promote terror and give a religious colour to their deeds.
Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar welcomed Sushilkumar Shinde’s comments, saying that he would like congratulate him for speaking the reality on a public forum. Bihar’s BJP leader Giriraj Singh trained his guns at the Congress party. He accused Congress of going soft on terror.
