‘BJP deliberately unleashing violence with police patronage’

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday strongly condemned the attack on journalists and students inside the Patiala House court premises by BJP supporters led by one of its MLAs O P Sharma.

“BJP is hell-bent on vitiating the peaceful atmosphere of Delhi and is deliberately unleashing violence with police patronage to terrorise all sections of the society. The sequence of events inside the Patiala House Court premises clearly point towards a premeditated attack on journalists and students by the BJP hoodlums, with their MLA O P Sharma caught on video attacking an unidentified person in full public view,” said AAP in a press statement.

“It is shameful that journalists on duty were attacked by BJP goons with active cooperation from some individuals faking their identity as lawyers. The Patiala House court incident raises very serious questions on the credibility and impartiality of Delhi Police. It is beyond any reasonable understanding how journalists and students, including girls, could be attacked in the presence of police,” the statement added.

BJP is deliberately creating an atmosphere of terror and chaos in Delhi and it has unleashed its frontal organisations and dirty tricks departments to muzzle all voices opposed to its politics of intolerance.

The AAP appeals to all the residents of the national Capital to peacefully reject all attempts by the BJP and its affiliated organisations to destroy the democratic values of the country. Meanwhile, AAP leaders Ashutosh and Dilip Pandey met the Special Commissioner (Law & Order) of Delhi Police, on the JNU issue.

The two leaders submitted two video clips to the police and demanded action against those being seen in these clips. The party further made it position clear that those who raised anti-India and pro-Pakistan slogans should be strictly dealt with in accordance with law. But, what is however, highly objectionable is the way Delhi Police has been treating innocent students and teachers. AAP also questioned the slapping of sedition charge on JNU students union president.
