BJP delegation meets gov, asks for JD(U) MLAs’ parade

Amidst fast-paced political developments in Bihar following Nitish Kumar’s resignation as chief minister, a BJP delegation today met the state governor and urged him to seek a parade of all MLAs in the event the Janata Dal(United) again staked claim to form government.

Emerging from a meeting with governor DY Patil, former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi told reporters outside the Raj Bhawan that the BJP delegation had discussed the political situation in Bihar.

The delegation comprised besides Sushil Modi, leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav, state party president and MLC Mangal Pandey, Deputy Speaker Amrendra Pratap Singh and MLAs Prem Ranjan Patel and Arun Sinha.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation was escorted inside the Raj Bhawan by security personnel as a large number of supporters of Nitish Kumar had assembled outside One Anne Marg, the venue of JD(U) legislature party meeting, which is in proximity to Raj Bhawan.

Sushil Modi said that the delegation told the Governor that a condition of political instability had been prevailing in the state for the past 11 months since the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) split.
‘Nitish Kumar is heading a minority government and has not even been able to expand his ministry which has halted development in the state,’ he said.

‘While many JD(U) MLAs have been suspended and were not present in the meeting today, JD(U) Legislators are holding meetings in groups against CM,’ he said referring to their conversation with the Governor.

He said that in this situation they told the governor that in order to ensure a stable government, he should insist on a parade of each MLA supporting Nitish Kumar if he again stakes claim to form government.
